Haiti Trip - July 18-22 2013

July 18-22 2013

Why Go:

143 Million Orphans Globally; The Opportunity to Make a Difference

·         See the problem--Be part of the solution

·         See first-hand the work that is being done to rescue and restore these kids

·         Experience God’s hand in amazing ways

What to Expect:

·         Visit children's villages and spend time with the children doing activities you would do with your own children- playing, singing, games, sports, crafts, loving, hugging, and holding them.

·         Visit locations where there are opportunities to build and rescue more children and discuss the potential for expansion. Tour the small businesses that Global Orphan operates which provide jobs in the community and financially support the villages.

·         Worship with the local church in Haiti. Good Haitian food. Daily Bible study with your team.

FAQs:

Trip Requirements? 1) Relationship with Christ.  2) Actively serving at CATB.  3) Involved in a Growth Group.

How much is the trip? The trip is $585 plus airfare (estimated around $450) We'll fly from Tampa to Miami and then from Miami to Port-au-Prince.
Where will we stay? Global Orphan owns a hotel, the Jumecort Inn, outside of Port-au-Prince, with comfortable accommodations, including filtered drinking water, air conditioned rooms, and a cafeteria. There's 24 hour armed security guarding the Inn, a watchtower and tall wall surrounding the premises.

What will we eat? The Jumecort Inn serves a large breakfast and dinner each day. You'll bring your own snacks to eat for lunch while we're out for the day.

Immunizations?  Global Orphan recommends getting these vaccinations: Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, and Tetanus. You should also take Malaria medication. Contact your county health department or personal physician.

What if I want to go, but can't afford it? You can raise funds for the trip. The $100 deposit needs to come from you, but the rest of the amount can be raised. It's a great opportunity to give friends, family and co-workers the chance to participate in what you're doing and to jump-start conversations about church and following Christ. Christmas Ornament

Do you have someone on your Christmas list that is very hard to buy for?

Here is a great gift idea!

Handmade Christmas Ornament

Donate 3 school uniforms for the orphans in Haiti and receive a beautiful handmade ornament.

Check out the following link to donate 3 uniforms ($20 each) through The Global Orphan website.

https://my.goproject.org/project/2012-team-challenge/

When you buy the uniforms you are providing:

1.  Hope to a child through education.  Children in Haiti are
required to wear specific uniforms to attend school.
2.  Security to a Haitian man or woman through work.  These
uniforms are made at a sewing center located at one of the
orphanages in Haiti.  This micro-business is run and staffed by
     local Haitian men and women.

These uniforms are a great opportunity to support our mission in Haiti.

Update from All In One Village- Haiti

Village Update: June is always an exciting month for children in Haiti. School lets out, summer vacation starts and there are all kind of activities to participate in. At the All in One village Madame Kesnel has organized a bible study at noon each weekday. The children gather in the church and learn different bible verses and practice their memorization skills. She led the bible study for the first few weeks, but told the kids that she would ultimately like some of them to prepare the lessons. Gradually she has been stepping away and is very pleased with the number of leaders among the children that have rose to the challenge. One verse that is read and recited each day is Psalm 23. Madame Kesnel hopes that by the end of the summer each kid is able to have that verse memorized and able to recite it in perfect French. I was amazed that one little girl, Billie, has already learned the verse by heart and proudly sat on Madame Kesnel’s lap and recited it to me. Billie is only 5 years old! She is constantly talking and making up stories. Madame Kesnel said that Billie is one of those kids that doesn’t have an ‘off’ switch, she has so much energy! In the fall Billie will be entering the 1st grade ahead of everyone else her age.

Haiti Child Sponsorship Renewal

All-In-One Village Haiti
and
Church at the Bay
Child Sponsorship Renewal

Web link for online renewal form:

CATB partnered with The Global Orphan Project about 2years ago to sponsor an orphanage in Haiti.  As of January 2012, CATB was sponsoring 35 full-time orphans at All-In-One Village in Haiti and 28 children from the community who come for schooling and meals.   Pastor Joseph Kesnel oversees the orphan homes, the school, and the church in our village.

Your monthly support of $41.00 will cover the cost required to clothe, feed, care for, and educate one orphan at our village.  CATB has also been able to fund projects such as: repairing the school, church and orphan homes after the 2010 Earthquake.
Kesnel takes in “true orphans,” those whose parents have died, and “orphans by necessity,” orphans whose parents cannot care for them.  Due to the transitory nature of the orphanage your child might change from year to year as we support Kesnel’s ministry and God’s work of uniting families.
Thank you for partnering with Church at the Bay and All-In-One Village on this amazing journey of life change.

On Generosity, by Jennifer Savini, missionary in Haiti

Jennifer and Chris Savini, along with their two children, Ella and Xander, live in Dargout, Haiti with the orphanage we sponsor. Please take a moment to read this captivating post on the beautiful generosity of one of the orphans.

You might see a few penny candies, but this is actually picture of extreme generosity.

A boy, an orphan, on a rare adventure to Port au Prince to celebrate Haiti's Flag Day, collected a few pieces of candy during the parade.  He counted out four and put them in his pocket.  Hours later, he brought them to me.  Shyly passing them into my hand, he told me that there was one for me, one for Chris and one each for Xander and Ella.

Please click here to continue reading Jennifer's story about this child.
