Update from All In One Village- Haiti

Village Update: June is always an exciting month for children in Haiti. School lets out, summer vacation starts and there are all kind of activities to participate in. At the All in One village Madame Kesnel has organized a bible study at noon each weekday. The children gather in the church and learn different bible verses and practice their memorization skills. She led the bible study for the first few weeks, but told the kids that she would ultimately like some of them to prepare the lessons. Gradually she has been stepping away and is very pleased with the number of leaders among the children that have rose to the challenge. One verse that is read and recited each day is Psalm 23. Madame Kesnel hopes that by the end of the summer each kid is able to have that verse memorized and able to recite it in perfect French. I was amazed that one little girl, Billie, has already learned the verse by heart and proudly sat on Madame Kesnel’s lap and recited it to me. Billie is only 5 years old! She is constantly talking and making up stories. Madame Kesnel said that Billie is one of those kids that doesn’t have an ‘off’ switch, she has so much energy! In the fall Billie will be entering the 1st grade ahead of everyone else her age.
